FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do PadSkinz come?

A: When you purchase from our website, we ship your order in a bulk roll sheet in the size of your choice. Each sheet comes with instructions as well.

Q: How do I get PadSkinz onto my pads or gloves?

A: Basically, you put masking tape or painters tape over the area you want to change. Trace out the design with a pencil, remove the tape from the pad and lay it on the PadSkinz sheet. From there, use a sharp blade to cut out the shape, peel the backing and stick it to your gear like a sticker. Full installation instructions can be found under the Hockey Products tab, under PadSkinz, “How To Apply PadSkinz”.

Q: How do I know what size to get?

A: This is a tough one because everyone is looking to do something unique. We generally say that a Small PadSkinz sheet will be enough to do small to average changes to a pair of pads or a set of gloves. A Big PadSkinz sheet is generally enough to do larger changes to both pads or small to average size changes to both gloves and pads. You can always email us at sales@padskinz.ca and we’ll be happy to lend our advice.

Q: I need to match an NHL team’s colours but I’m not sure which one to pick. Can you help?

A: We have a full list of NHL teams and their colour matches here: padskinz.ca/colour-reference/

Q: Can I take off and re-apply PadSkinz at a later date?

A: No.

Q: Can I save my leftover PadSkinz for next season?

A: Many things such as heat, humidity, light, storage conditions, etc… can affect your leftover PadSkinz long term. While there is no expiry date, we recommend using your PadSkinz within 2-3 months of receiving your PadSkinz.

Q: Will I need any special tools to install PadSkinz?

A: Yes, you will need a sharp blade and some masking tape or painters tape.

Q: Should I use PadSkinz on the knee and calf landing areas of my pads?

A: PadSkinz are meant primarily for small repairs or colour changes to the graphics on the front of the pads or gloves. Areas that take a lot of abuse (rubbing on the ice) are not meant for our product. However, our Weave colours are thicker by about 1.5 times so it is more durable and could last a little longer in those areas.

Q: I’d like to change my gear colour but this all sounds too difficult for me. I’m terrible with arts & crafts!

A: We’ve heard this a million times before. What our customers find out is that it’s actually not that difficult, it’s time consuming. If you GO SLOW and TAKE YOUR TIME (maybe even open up your favorite beverage), your design will come out great! Remember, no one will be standing closer than a few steps away from you and at that distance, the human cannot see that type of detail to be able to identify any little “oops moments” you may have had.

Q: Can I cover my entire pads in PadSkinz?

A: We don’t recommend it for a few reasons. First, adding that much of almost any material will add weight. Second, you would have to line up each separate piece exactly, otherwise the old colour underneath will show through the cracks. Third, the areas that rub on the ice more frequently will wear out much quicker than those that don’t so it could force you into repairing small sections. Finally, as mentioned in another question, there would be a fair amount of adhesive to remove from the pads and that could be time consuming.

Q: Can I use one piece from the top to the bottom or do I have to cut separate pieces? For example, do I need to use separate pieces over each knee roll?

A: You need to use separate pieces for each knee roll and any other “breaks” in the pads. The ankle break is another place you will need to use a new piece, for example.

Q: Can I use PadSkinz on nylon areas of my gear?

A: No, because the adhesive isn’t meant to stick to nylon. However, we have PantSkinz that DO stick to nylon extremely well.

Q: Can you get any colours that are not listed?

A: No, I’m sorry we can’t.

Q: Can I get something printed on PadSkinz, like a logo or picture?

A: Yes, as long as it’s not a copyrighted logo. If you have written permission from the copyright owner of the logo, we can reproduce it for you. Otherwise, we can reproduce almost anything you can dream up! See our custom page under the Custom Products tab.

Q: What is the processing time on my order?

A: Orders usually ship within 1 to 2 business days of your order being placed.

Q: What currency are your prices in?

A: Currency is based on the location you are shipping to. For example, Canadian shipping locations are charged in Canadian dollars, whereas US customers are charged in US dollars. This due to our commitment to our US partners for parity pricing.

Q: Where does my order ship from?

Q: Do you offer refunds?

Q: Can I pickup my order?

A: Yes you can. Please email sales@padskinz.ca to setup an appropriate pickup time.

Q: Are PadSkinz easy to remove?

A: Yes and no. The top layer of material will pull away from the piece of equipment with some force. Sometimes, there will be some residual adhesive still stuck to the equipment that will take some time and effort to remove completely. Full removal instructions can be found in the Hockey Products tab, under the PadSkinz menu, “How To Remove PadSkinz”. Remember though, you’re not buying this product to come off easily, you’re buying it because it stays stuck!
